Red Truck California Red Wine 2005

This red was better than I had remembered. Perhaps it was the fire that I was sitting in front of and the good book I was digesting. It is a blend of their Petite Syrah, Cab Franc and Syrah and offers a nice, robust color and is well made with no obvious deficiencies. It is not a complex wine, starting off weak, almost devoid of anything, and finishing stronger, though not as smooth as one might hope for. There are some fruity notes, but not too many. For the price (I think I paid less than six bucks at Costco when I bought a case) it is not a bad “everyday” wine, but not one you will want to serve to those with refined palates or try to play off as something really special to the undiscerning. My one recommendation is serve it at the correct temperature (around 57 degrees). This will make a big difference with this wine.
